Chevy Tire Pressure Guide

mechanic checking tire pressure
So you’re taking home your first Chevy vehicle, or you’re 10th, and you want to make sure everything is running smooth no matter where you go. One of the easiest ways to not only save money on gas but keep you and your family safe on the road is by having the right tire pressure. Most Chevy passenger vehicles have a recommended tire pressure of 35 PSI. However, when it comes to tire pressure, trim levels, and tire size also impact the recommended PSI.

For example, Chevy Equinox tire pressure is recommended at 35 for each trim in each tire. But, each trim has its tire size that could allow the inflation to go up to 38 PSI. Similarly, the Chevy Cruze tire pressure is also dependent on the model year. Chevy Cruze tire pressure for 2011-2022 is between 30-35 PSI. If this seems confusing, then don’t worry! The team at Five Star Chevrolet Florence is here to help you make heads or tails of the tire pressure for all of your Chevy vehicles from the Equinox to the Chevy Bolt and Malibu.

How to Check Chevy Tire Pressure

Depending on the model year of your Chevy, you may see the tire pressure for each tire displayed on the information center. Drivers of newer models can use the controls on the steering wheel to view the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). This feature may not be available if you have an older model Chevy, but that’s okay. Keeping a tire pressure gauge handy will allow you to check your tire pressure about once a month in your own Marion driveway, depending on the time of year.

Chevy Equinox, Cruze, Malibu, and Bolt Tire Pressure

No matter the model, the recommendation is always to check your owner’s manual for recommended tire pressure. If you don’t have the owner’s manual, check the Five Star Chevrolet Florence website for the information. Below is a table of the recommended PSI for the Chevy Bolt, Cruze, and Malibu tire pressure.

Vehicle  Front Tire  Rear Tire
Chevy Bolt tire pressure 38 PSI 38 PSI
Chevy Cruze tire pressure 35 PSI 35 PSI
Chevy Malibu tire pressure 35 PSI 35 PSI
Chevy Equinox tire pressure 35 PSI 35 PSI

Like the Chevy Equinox tire pressure, the Chevy Malibu tire pressure depends on the trim selected. Regardless of the Chevy model chosen, when you use either high-performance tires or tires bigger than the original equipment, the recommended tire pressure may differ from what the manufacturer recommends.

Drivers of the Chevy Bolt can use the myChevrolet Mobile App to check their Bolt’s tire pressure. If you’ve never downloaded the app, check out the Connected Services Demo and select the Chevrolet mobile experience.
